Stylist Spotlight | Bone and Blanc Interiors

Bone and Blanc Interiors has a simple yet profound mission: to make your space uniquely yours. It’s an ethos that aligns with our own here at Eadie, so we were excited to collaborate on their latest project, Sandy Point, and find out more about the two creatives behind this residential interior design firm known for creating bespoke, luxury designs.

You have a wonderful portfolio of local Newcastle/Hunter Region designs under your belt. What was it that made the two of you want to go into business together and start the journey that is now Bone and Blanc Interiors?

Thank you – we love what we do! Bone and Blanc is now 4 and a half years old, and it still feels like a dream. Before establishing our business, we met while working together at a previous design job. Over the years, our friendship grew stronger, and in the last few months of that job, we started taking on freelance work. One day, we realised we could turn our passion into a business and decided to take the leap. Just a couple of months later, Bone and Blanc was born, and we haven’t looked back since.

The name Bone and Blanc is as stylish as the spaces you create. Does it hold any significant meaning that people might not know?

We like to think of ourselves as yin and yang or chalk and cheese. Court is the logical and technical mind, while Riss is the free spirit who thinks out loud. Together, we create the perfect balance, thriving on each other’s passion for design. Those who know us well can confirm that we are often seen wandering around, laughing until we cry, and finding inspiration wherever we go. This dynamic is what led us to name our business BONE and BLANC—two shades of white that are similar, yet distinctly different, just like us.

The recently completed Sandy Point project has the most divine finishing touches. Can you talk through the initial design process and how it flourished from there?

The Sandy Point Project holds a special place in our hearts. The design process began with our clients expressing their deep appreciation for their stunning location. The back deck leads directly to a beach, offering an intimate connection with nature. Our clients wanted to bring this breathtaking view inside their home. To achieve this, we focused on creating an open-plan living space that showcases the beach view. The project truly flourished when our clients insisted on incorporating plenty of white in the interior. From that moment, we knew we could infuse the space with warmth by layering various textures to harmonise with the natural surroundings.

The Sandy Point home very successfully combines beauty and function. How do you manage to achieve this when designing a home and what advice can you give a home renovator trying to do the same?

Achieving a seamless blend of beauty and function in the Sandy Point home involved a careful balance of aesthetic appeal and practical design. Our process began with understanding the clients needs and the unique features of the location. By prioritising natural light, maximising views, and selecting materials that are both beautiful and durable, we were able to create a harmonious living space.

For home renovators looking to achieve a similar balance, my advice is to start with a clear vision of how you want the space to feel and function. Consider the natural surroundings and how you can bring elements of the outside in. Use a neutral colour palette as a base, then add warmth and character through textures and accessories. Most importantly, ensure that every design choice serves both an aesthetic and functional purpose, creating a space that is not only beautiful but also practical for everyday living. Considering your everyday lifestyle is essential.

We adore the colour palette you have chosen for the Sandy Point project. Why did you choose to include all Eadie furnishings for the final touches?

We have a deep appreciation for Eadie products; their timeless quality and design add personal touches to the broader interior vision we create. For this project, we sought fabrics that exuded natural beauty, aiming to reflect the exterior landscape within the home. Eadie’s green and brown tones were perfect—not only for their hues but also for their textures and fabrics. Each piece felt like a warm, cosy hug, inviting you to immerse yourself in the space.
